Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the role of strategic agility as
approach to building organizational vigilance within organizations
through a field study of the opinions of a sample of employees at the
Karbala branch of the Oil Products Distribution Company, The
importance of the research stems from the fact that it addresses a
modern strategic topic in a vital sector characterized by high
environmental and operational fluctuations,  the data collect from a
sample of employees working in the administrative and executive
levels related to decision-making and follow-up, which amounted to
123 individuals by using a questionnaire. A set of statistical methods
(arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation)
was used to describe the study variables. The questionnaire included
two main axes: the first axis was the dimensions of strategic agility
(strategic sensitivity, clarity of vision, core capabilities, speed of
response, and shared responsibility), while the second axis was the
dimensions of organisational vigilance (employee empowerment,
human resource retention, operational flexibility, and flexibility in
rules and procedures).  Based on the analysis of field data, the results
demonstrated the significant role of strategic agility in enhancing
organisational vigilance within the company under study,
particularly through improving the ability to sense and respond
quickly to environmental changes. This supports organisational
readiness and sustained performance in an uncertain work
environment. The research recommended adopting strategic agility
as a management approach to achieving organisational vigilance in
the oil sector by building a flexible organisational environment
capable of confronting uncertainties and future crises.
